I really hope your couponing is going well. I had to tone it down for a while due to finals and Christmas. However, I am about to start being a lot more active.
UAB has been amazing and you can see the article about the blog in the most recent issue!
I can't believe how great this has become!
I taught a coupon class this last semester. Anyone is welcome to use my PowerPoint! Just comment and I will email it to you!
Sorry! You can't buy whole coupon inserts at Coupons by DeDe but you can buy them already clipped. Which saves a lot of time if that is how you choose to organize! However if you want the unclipped versions, the only place I can find is wholecouponinserts.com!
Okay, so I live in a residence hall. Delivery Papers aren't very convenient. That means every Sunday I head to my local gas station and buy 6 papers. However, lately due to my crazy life I've missed a few Sundays. I know I can't be the only person to do this so I wanted to share a website that allows you to buy inserts. I bought a few of the cover girl coupons from her and they were here quickly and payment was safe! I've never tried getting entire inserts but I am about to order a few. I will let you all know how it goes!
So sorry it's been a while since I posted. I had 4 tests last week and now it is homecoming here at UAB! However, November is here and that means my favorite holiday!!! BLACK FRIDAY! Ah! =) I suggest signing up for www.blackfriday.info for all the best ad alerts! The key to getting the best deals is to PLAN AHEAD! So, I promise to try and post more! Happy planning!
Today I wanted to share a small secret that I love! I am a Resident Assistant at my university and therefore do programs for residents. I also like to get involved with campaigns like Operation Christmas Child. This awesome campaign sends shoe boxes to children who might not have a Christmas otherwise.
However, I don't like to break the bank to do this. I am a college student! So, let me tell you the best place to get these little favors (think Christmas gifts without killing your budget): Oriental Trading. If you don't know about it already the company calls itself "We are the nation's largest direct merchant of value–priced party supplies, arts and crafts, toys and novelties, and a leading provider of school supplies and affordable home décor and giftware." The little secret I want to share today is the section on the site called the "Less than Perfect" sale section. This part of the site has a collection of items that might not be exactly as described. For example 12 (yes a dozen) reindeer mugs found here are only $1.49! Why? You might have to retouch their paint!
Just thought I would share this shameless money saving trick!
I thought I would share a small chart I made with details on the store policies!
Enjoy!
XOXO
Lauren

A good friend of mine just told me about a new place to get samples! It's through USPS and they are sending out what they call "Sample Showcase Boxes"! Hey it's free! Go check it out and sign up here: https://www.usps.com/manage/free-product-samples.htm
Okay, okay. I know you might be like "shut up about the Cover Girl make-up coupon." No, no I refuse. First thing, it's my blog. Second, I have some valid points =)
Guys (yes, I know you read my blog too!), Halloween is coming up! You can use the face make-up then! DUH! My old friend from Marshall County (shout out!) sent me a facebook message, confirming that the coupon can be used on face sponges too! Those are only $2.94! That means you use the $8.00/2 found in last Sunday's P&G insert and you will have over $2.00 to spend on something else!
Girls, this is a great chance to stock up on make-up!
This Sunday, I actually used the coupon to fund a charity event I did! We were able to make over 400 ribbons to support breast cancer awareness!
A good friend of mine just alerted me to an awesome deal on make-up! If you use CoverGirl you can use the P&G coupon from today and combine it with the prices at Wal-Mart for a better than free deal! You'll get $0.52 back! More details here:
Woot! Woot! 4 inserts scheduled for tomorrow! Don't leave the store without these in your paper: Smart Source, Red Plum, P&G, Pepsico Moments
Yay! I love P&G!
XOXO

Actual class has been really hectic for me, and I am so sorry I haven't updated like I should. Hopefully, I can get back in the groove of couponing!
I am really excited to do a class to my actual peers. I think it will be great! I hope to take pictures and post them on here. I got lots of prizes using coupons and I hope they enjoy it!
If any one wants to come it will be at 8:30 p.m. in the UAB Blazer Hall RLC!
I am a huge supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness. I lost my aunt last November and it is still devastating. There is a new app on Facebook and if you simply join it you get a free breast cancer pin! And the more people you get to join the more free items you get!
So, I totally love Zazzle (and not just because of their awesome Harry Potter merchandise). However, sometimes I find them a little pricey. One great thing is that they send coupon codes all the time (this can also be a bad thing because it totally spams my email). But they are now having a great give-a-way! Just like them on facebook and then put in your information!
Vistaprint is having a lot of great freebies! You have to pay shipping (around $4.00) but it's worth it! You can get tote bags, invitations, calendars, photo books, & more! Go to Q-tipping Mom for more information!
Sooooo…Since Taylor Swift was not happy with a music and acting career OR her clothing line, she is now releasing a fraquence! (I bet you all know what is coming) So, that means FREE SAMPLE! =) I have to admit I'm excited to try this! It's another like on facebook deal. And then scroll to the bottom! There have been some reports of it not working to well. Hopefully you can get it!
Velveeta Cheesy Skillets are on price cut at Target for $1.77. There are two coupons you can combine to purchase these for only $0.27 each!
So excited to see this! I have to go before the week ends! Just so you all know these can be cooked in the microwave too! =) Thanks to the krazy coupon lady!
Yay! Wednesday means we have new sales, and new deals to catch! =) I am running low on supplies, so it's almost time for a big trip. Thankfully, school has calmed down just a little after having three tests this week! Here are the links for the matchups of Winn Dixie and Publix! One thing about Publix is that they all have different coupon policies. Be sure to check with your local store on what competitor's coupons they accept (mine DOES NOT accept target):
Bath and Body works is having a great deal! You can get wallflower refills for $6.00 for two! Plus if you use the code FALL25 at checkout you can get $1.00 shipping on a purchase of $25.00 or more!
Just got a head's up from an awesome CVS employee that the CVS Coupon Center is printing out coupons for FREE crackerfuls or Fig Newton Thin Cookies this week! She said it's one of the best deals she's seen in a while!
I am a huge coke fan. The only other type of drink I drink is Diet Mt. Dew (which is a Pepsi product). So, why not get rewarded!
I use http://www.mycokerewards.com/ . A lot of people drink coke but don't utilize this prize system!
One thing to know, I've heard bad reviews from others about the coke products. For example, coke umbrellas, oven mitts, etc. So, just stick with free coke coupons, giftcards, tickets, photo products, and magazine subscriptions!
XOXO
Lauren
While going through the Sunday paper I found some extra coupons hidden in the Parade insert (it's a special insert in the Birmingham News). It is for some good values on Swiffer, Febreeze, Dawn, Mr.Clean, and Cascade. It's labeled "Special Savings from Wal-Mart" but they are manufacturer's coupons! So be on the look-out through out the paper, not just the normal inserts!
Anyone that knows me personally knows that I love pictures! Now through August 31st. Snapfish is offering a good deal on photo prints. Get 50 prints for $5 with free shipping! To get the deal use code, 50PRINT4U at checkout. $0.10 is a common photo deal, but with the free shipping this is a really great one!
Want some more free samples? =) Who would say no to that? Here's a list of the newest ones I have seen lately!
Household
Finish Dishwashing Sample (Just push like on facebook and go from there. It's first come first serve, so hurry. One person will also win a free dishwasher!)
WOW so Outback announced that they will be giving away 1,000,000 FREE STEAK DINNERS! That is a steak and a bake potato side! It will be TODAY only here: http://greataussiesteakout.cloudapp.net/
There is a countdown going on right now but you can text 'OUTBACK' to 27438 and you will be notified when the deal is available!
Usually K-Mart doesn't double coupons, but according to an article I just found they are having a special event. Go read the article here and she also has an awesome list of deals!
Just wanted to remind everyone that if you haven't already liked the page on facebook, I would love you to! The link is www.facebook.com/CollegeCouponer and you should definately spread the word! The more, the better!
There will only be one coupon insert in tomorrow's paper, so no one think you didn't get them all. Some good ones though. According to Southern Savers the following can be found. Remember, it will vary by location:

While reading some of the new posts on Southern Savers, something caught my eye. HP has decided to cancel the production of the HP TouchPad. What does this mean for you? It's going to be $99.00 at the major retail stores for the 16 GB version and the 32 GB is $149.00! This is an AWESOME deal.
Take note that they will still support the existing WebOS devices so you should still get technical support and current apps! BUT since this is happening because HP is going to try moving another operating system there will probably be no new apps or software updates. This would be a great tablet for basic note taking and internet browsing!
Woot! Just got wind of an awesome new promotion Target is doing! The first 1000 people to "like" an offer they put up will get a coupon sent to their phone! Some people are saying about 50%! The last offer was a comforter set for the dorm! Crazy!
The owner of Zen Yogurt was super nice and sent me an email telling me about a student discount Zen offers to UAB and BSC. Students receive 15% off on Fridays at Zen Yogurt & Smoothies. All they'll need is a valid student ID.
1801 5th Avenue South, suite 115 Birmingham, AL 35233
They are right near UAB Hospital and next to Moe's and McAlister's! It is within walking distance of UAB, I've gone there since they first opened. I hope you love them as much as I do! And I'm so excited they shared this offer with me!
I know everyone is getting ready for classes to begin, and that means tons of last minute trips to super stores! BUT don't let that mean you are paying full price for the things you need. My philosophy is that even if I can't get it on sale, I don't pay full price! I've got the deals from Wal-mart,
Here are some new Walmart deals and coupon match ups for you this week:

I decided that since all the other stores have so many more deals and I know you don't want to read all of these so I am just going to post the links for the amazing websites below:
Walgreens has a lot of great sales this week. Instead of posting it all, I think it might be easier for you to go straight to Deal Seeking Mom and get it here =)
Rite Aid is the same way. I went to cuckoo for coupon deals for this one. I am going to post the link, mainly because I love the way she has it set up for printing options! Remember what I've said before, the internet is amazing! If you don't have time to match the deals yourself, that's okay! Someone else is already doing it =) Rite Aid deals can be found here!
Hope this helps everyone! Good luck with your new classes! Knock 'em dead!
I think I'll end with a favorite quote I heard on today's Extreme Couponing marathon, "The value size isn't always the best value. Pay attention." –Nathan Engels or Mr. Coupon. Please note, I don't necessarily agree with his stockpiling tactics. However he does donate to soldiers and that I love! But that doesn't make me agree that he has a room just for his 1000 tubes of toothpaste! BUT I hope I can get to his math ability =)
I just wanted to post a quick list of the best school deals this week. I am sorry I haven't been able to post often, I've been really busy. I should be back to normal when school begins and I have a normal schedule again!
I am so excited that UAB news did a post about this blog! I can't believe this has caught on so quickly! The only thing that makes me sad is that it will be very hard for me to update in the next two weeks as I train for my RA position for the upcoming year. However, remember that the Coupon Websites will still be there and keep printing and using those Coupons. Also, I have the price point list at the top that is always available! Also, if you have a great coupon run don't hesitiate to send a picture of your trip!
A friend of mine has a friend who would like to sell a fridge/microwave combo! I thought this to be very odd, but apparently they come together as a unit. They are about 5 years old. He has 25 of them for about $100 each! I googled it and it seems they retail at much higher. If you are a student and do not have a mini fridge or microwave yet this is a great deal! It's cheaper then buying them separately. Just comment on this post and I'll get you in touch with them.
Hello All! I know, I know this is still not the College Couponing 101 about organizing your coupons. I am so sorry, but I want it to be a real well thought out post and I've had finals this week so my couponing has been put on the back burner! So, look for it in future weeks. BUT I did want to remind everyone that August 5th through the 7th (this weekend) is tax free weekend!
Alabama's Tax Free Weekend includes:
Clothing under $100
School supplies under $50
Books under $30
Computers/computer equipment under $750
I love this weekend and think it really helps everyone! If you have all your school stuff or have no need for it, consider buying a few things and donating it! There are a lot of young children out there that really have nothing!
Okay, I lied. My computer has been sick this week so no blog post on organization just yet! However, with school coming up super soon I thought you would all like to see some of the best school supply deals out there this week!
